Meet the founder:
Tyler Doiron
This isn’t just a business for me. Plainboy is a reflection of who I am and the person I’m still becoming. It’s tied to how I grew up, the places that shaped me, and the people I’ve always felt connected to. I started this brand because I wanted to create clothing that felt real and familiar, something that carried meaning beyond a logo.
Plainboy represents the community I grew up in and the beach culture that came with it. Every piece is made with intention, care, and attention to detail, not just in how it looks, but in how it feels when you wear it. Quality matters to me, but so does honesty. I want these clothes to feel lived in, trusted, and personal from the first wear.
At its core, Plainboy is about creating something that lasts. A brand built around comfort, connection, and the feeling of belonging somewhere, even if that place is just a state of mind. This is my way of sharing that feeling with anyone who connects to it.
The South Bay is Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan… all those pockets along the coast in between LAX and Palos Verdes that kind of blur together when you grow up there. It’s the same streets you ride down every day, the same people you recognize at the beach, the same smell of salt in the air. It never felt fancy or dramatic, just comfortable.
Surf culture is just part of the background. You see boards strapped to cars before school, wetsuits hanging on fences, people walking into coffee shops, barefoot and still dripping from the ocean. Even if you’re not out surfing, it shapes the way you think. Everyone’s a little more relaxed, a little more patient, a little more connected to the beach without even thinking about it.
For me, growing up there was just easy. Long days, warm light, friends running around from beach to beach, that whole slow coastal pace that sticks with you way longer than you expect. It’s a simple place, but it leaves something on you.
