My name is Tyler, and Plainboy was created as a reflection of where I come from and how I grew up. It started as a personal project, built from memories, routines, and the quiet influence of Southern California. This brnd is not about chasing trends or making huge statements. It is about creating cloting that fits well and feels familiar, comfortable, and easy to live in.
I grew up in South Bay, CA specifically Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach. These are a stretch of coasatal towns where life moves a little slower an routines are built around the beach. Mornings start earlier, to go surf or swim, days were scheduled around when you could go lay on the sand. Clothes were worn without thought, thrown loose into bags, and used to cover up board shorts and bikinis, which were our uniform.
This is me back in the day…lol
Growing up in that environment shaped how I think about clothing. Comfort mattered more than appearance. Simplicity mattered more than excess.
The pieces you reached for every day become part of your identity without even trying. Over time, the clothes stopped feeling like outfits and really like a part of your life.
When I moved away to go to school, I realized how much I missed that feeling. Not just the beach, but the ease and comfort that came wit it. The softness. The lack of pressure. Because I couldn’t find the familiarity I turned to clothes and that became Plainboy.
Plainboy is my way of translating the feeling of the South Bay into fabric. Every piece is designed to feel lived in from the first wear and to get better the longer you keep it. Nothing loud. Nothing forced. Effortless style and comfort. At it’s heart it is just clothing made for everyday life, built around comfort, repetition, and ease.
The brand is extremely personal to me because it comes from a real place. It is about holing onto a feeling an sense of home no matter where you are.
